Workshop

Date: July 10, 2024

The one-day workshop titled “Exploring Generative AI – Innovation, Applications, Regulations and Ethical Considerations” scheduled on July 10, 2024, aimed to delve into the burgeoning field of Generative AI (GenAI). GenAI focuses on creating systems capable of generating new content such as images, text, music, and virtual environments, often indistinguishable from human-created content. This technology has vast potential in both commercial and military domains. However, it also presents significant ethical and regulatory challenges, particularly concerning the misuse of generated content like deepfakes and misinformation in military contexts. The workshop was focused on providing a thorough understanding of GenAI’s capabilities and applications, discussing its military, social, and ethical implications, and promoting networking and collaboration among AI professionals and enthusiasts.

The event featured various expert speakers addressing key topics in the field. Mr. Sulaman, an IT expert, introduced the concepts and techniques of GenAI. Air Commodore (R) Raza Haider discussed the military applications and challenges of GenAI. Ms. Maheen Shafeeq explored the intersection of GenAI and social media, and Air Commodore (R) Dr. Waseem Qutub covered the ethical, legal, and social implications of GenAI. The workshop also included a discussion session chaired by Dr. Zafar Khan, focusing on balancing technological advancements with ethical responsibility, real-world case studies, and interactive audience participation. The event was successfully concluded with an address by Brigadier Agha Ahmad Gul, head of BTTN followed by a lunch.
